NBA In-Season Tournament: A New Era of Trophies and Games
The NBA has unveiled a series of trophies for its first-ever In-Season Tournament, with the pièce de résistance being The NBA Cup. This prestigious award is the result of a collaboration between Tiffany & Co. and artist Victor Solomon, renowned for their craftsmanship and design prowess.

The NBA Cup: A Symbol of Excellence

Standing at 23 inches tall, The NBA Cup is a remarkable fusion of gold and black—a nod to the NBA's storied trophy history while introducing a distinct aesthetic for the In-Season Tournament. Crafted from sterling silver and finished with 24-karat gold vermeil and black ceramic, the trophy is not just a symbol of victory but a work of art. It features a base intricately adorned with net details that harmoniously blend the design elements of the Eastern and Western Conference Championship Trophy bases. Underneath, the NBA In-Season Tournament event logo is proudly displayed.

Honoring the Most Valuable Player

The tournament's Most Valuable Player will be distinguished by the In-Season Tournament MVP Trophy, which stands at 15 inches to represent the 15 teams in each NBA conference. With two stems symbolizing the final competing teams, the MVP trophy is as symbolic as it is prestigious.

Recognition for the Champions

In an acknowledgment of team effort, each player on the championship team will receive a medal as a token of their triumph. These medals are inscribed with "NBA In-Season Tournament Champions" and the year of the tournament on the front, while the back showcases a silhouette of The NBA Cup, framed by two tournament brackets. The four balls emblazoned on the medal's face highlight the semifinalists who competed in Las Vegas.

All-Tournament Team Accolades

Following the tournament, a select group of media members will have the responsibility of choosing the All-Tournament Team, comprising five players whose performances were exceptional throughout the event. Each member of this elite group will be awarded a trophy featuring a solid black crystal basketball with gold channels, one of which includes a bracket motif to honor the tournament's unique structure.

Tournament Progress and Upcoming Games

In recent action, the Indiana Pacers clinched a spot in the East semifinal after defeating the Boston Celtics 122-112, while the New Orleans Pelicans overcame the Sacramento Kings with a score of 127-117 to advance to the semifinals. The semifinal matchups will be completed following games between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, and the Milwaukee Bucks versus the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. The East and West semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, December 7, leading up to the championship game on Saturday, December 9.

Fanfare and Entertainment

The excitement extends beyond the court as Toshiba Plaza gears up to host various fan activities during the tournament. Attendees can marvel at the life-sized NBA Cup trophy, shop for exclusive merchandise, and engage in basketball-themed games. Adding to the festivities, music icons Nelly and TLC are slated to perform in a dynamic singing battle during the interval between the two semifinal games. This performance is part of "The Sum: All-Star Music Battle," a new reality competition. Fans over the age of 18 have the opportunity to participate and possibly share the stage with these legendary artists. As the NBA continues to innovate with events like the In-Season Tournament, it ensures that both the players and fans experience basketball in fresh and engaging ways. With the introduction of new trophies and the inclusion of fan-centric activities and entertainment, the NBA is setting a precedent for how sports leagues can create captivating mid-season spectacles.
